Job Description

AVIONICS TECHNICIAN LEAD JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, plan, schedule and lead the day to day activities of the Avionics Tech team. Ensure proper utilizing of manpower while meeting aircraft schedule and production targets.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Provide technical guidance, OJT and instruction regarding troubleshooting avionics components and systems. 2. Coordinates technicians to conduct operational testing and troubleshooting on avionics systems and components. 3. Performs complex installations and functional tests of avionics components and systems on aircraft. 4. Ensures own and all technicians work is completed per engineering specs, blueprints and/or maintenance manuals. 5. Repair or replace highly defective components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity. 6. Leading by example, demonstrate effective repair techniques using acceptable practices and providing mentoring to junior level technicians. 7. Conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability. 8. Verifies team compliance with the latest engineering changes and modifications as required. 9. Ensures quality and efficiency of all installations. 10. Create and maintain a safe working environment free of hazards. 11. Openly communicate with and support junior installers. 12. Other duties as assigned not specifically stated herein.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC
1. High school diploma or GED. Avionics certification or technical training. 2. 8 years of progressive avionics experience and/or training in the business aviation industry or military. 3. Possess a high degree of leadership abilities to build rapport and motivate a team. 4. Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints. 5. Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Must be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing. 2. Have the ability to anticipate problems before they occur in order to mitigate any potential schedule delays or work stoppage. 3. Be a champion of a safe working environment. 4. Leading by example, create an environment conducive to continuous improvement opportunities to reduce rework, downtime, shift turnover issues, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations. The hangar where this position works is in an environment which may have exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues such as fluctuations in temperature. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements.
