Job Overview We are looking for an experienced aviation Production Manager (Contractor) to join our growing aircraft conversion team based in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas area. This position requires someone who has worked on heavy aircraft structure and maintenance for at least ten years. The Production Manager must understand OEM manuals and systems and must be able to work with engineers, structural and systems leads, and technicians. Aviation experience is required. Must be willing to travel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with on-site Liaison Engineers to resolve installation deviations and ensure they are being worked in proper order/sequence to prevent any slowdowns in Production scheduling. Work hands‐on with MRO management and Structural/Systems Leads and Techs to resolve any configuration deviations and ensure the design integrity is maintained at all times. Point out any "general practices" concerns to Management, MRO Management, and QA regarding proper installation of mod kit, and ensure all quality standards are being met on a daily basis. This includes proper fastener lay‐out, drilling, riveting, Hi‐Lok and bolt installation, sealant application, and final finish of re‐worked assemblies. For the first article -200LR/-300ER conformity process, manage conformity process including coordination of DAR/DER inspections, reports, completion of FAA required forms, and other related administration duties including tracking conformed modules and reporting progress. Report design issues that need corrected as related to initial conformity aircraft as well as all future mod aircraft. Attend MRO status meetings and report in writing and verbally to Sr. Management current status-to-date and planned future accomplishments. Ensure all company-owned kit materials, tools, and miscellaneous office equipment is safeguarded and properly maintained and stored as required. Ensure company-owned kit materials are properly inventoried, inspected, stored, and tracked when issued to the floor and issued to the appropriate task by the MRO. When replacement material (parts) is required, investigate and determine root cause and responsible party for cost of replacement (MRO or company). Additional Production Manager responsibilities will include all hydraulic and systems installation over‐site as well as a substantial number of new avionics system installs, and systems deletions complied with using OEM standards/wiring practices (SWP). Ensure the conversion AC cleanliness is being maintained by the MRO throughout the day with special focus on FOD control around avionics wire bundles (EWIS), flight control cable protection, as well as general cleanliness of the AC. Follow Production planning docs to hit milestones in a timely fashion and achieve company goals as directed by Sr. Production Manager and ensure the MROs are meeting or exceeding the goals that are defined. In the future, assist with any AOG support that may require a Production representative to be present at the AC during the AOG and provide sound resolution to the problem at hand. Assist with any AOG correspondence via email for troubleshooting and resolving any electrical or systems issues to release the AC and see its entry back into service. Travel as required to various MRO's both in the US and abroad to support all the job duties listed above. Other duties laid forth by Sr. Management as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
10+ years of proven heavy Structural experience on Commercial Aircraft. FAA Licensed Airframe Mechanic. Previous experience working with and understanding OEM Manufacturing and Installation drawings. Previous experience working with OEM Manuals (SRM, AMM, IPC, SWPM, etc.). Previous experience with OEM S/B's and Service Letters. Basic knowledge of OEM Systems. Basic knowledge of OEM Electrical and Avionics. Proficient in Microsoft Windows and/or Mac OS. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. Other software requirements as required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Management experience related to heavy aircraft maintenance and modifications. FAA Licensed Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (A&P). Previous experience on heavy Structural Passenger to Freighter Modifications. Understanding STC Programs and how they come together (Certification, Conformity/ First Article, Company and FAA Testing, STC issuance, etc.). Knowledge of tooling installations for structural modifications and how they are applied throughout the project. Generation of task cards/work decks from newly released drawings and how they are built and catalogued. Application Question(s): This position is a contract role.
