Job Description

ARES Corporation is an employee-owned aerospace and engineering services company supporting NASA, the Department of Defense, and other Federal agencies through engineering, mission operations, communications, and technical services. ARES provides mission-critical support under the Wallops Range Contract supporting communications, telemetry, radar, launch operations, and associated infrastructure at NASA Wallops Flight Facility.
Position Overview:
ARES is seeking a Junior Radar (NASCOM) Technician to support telecommunications, command, data distribution, and electronic systems associated with Wallops range operations and NASA communications systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain telecommunications and electronic systems supporting NASA range operations. Configure and maintain data and voice circuits in support of mission requirements. Support NASA tracking data communications systems and distribution methods. Utilize and support operational software and user interface applications including MOVE, Net Acquire, RAPSII, EDRS, Stancil Voice Recorder, and WADAT. Perform fault isolation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of communications systems and associated hardware. Interpret schematics and technical system drawings. Utilize test equipment including BER test sets, data analyzers, transmission test sets, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters. Maintain operational logs and preventative maintenance schedules. Prepare oral and written reports documenting operational activities. Support operational activities under dynamic mission schedules and time-critical environments. Ensure compliance with company and NASA procedures and policies.
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree or two years of technical education in Electronics or related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training. Understanding of telecommunications and electronics fundamentals. Basic Ethernet networking knowledge including IP configuration and cabling. Familiarity with data and voice communications systems.
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to learn operational software applications and communications interfaces. Ability to troubleshoot electronic and communications systems. Strong PC and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work at heights and lift 40 pounds or more. Ability to obtain and maintain an Secret Clearance. Domestic and international travel may be required.
Work Environment:
Safety, quality awareness, and compliance are required. Shift work may be required based on dynamic mission schedules and operational needs.
