What We Need Seattle Pacific University is seeking a Maintenance Technician II (two positions available) to support the day-to-day operation of campus facilities through preventive maintenance, repairs, event support, and responsive customer service.

This position works across academic, residential, and administrative buildings, helping maintain safe and reliable campus operations. The Maintenance Technician II collaborates closely with other Facilities staff to complete maintenance projects, respond to service requests, support campus events, and assist with emergency operations when needed.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, customer-focused, and enjoys hands-on work in a team-oriented environment.

This is an in-person position located on SPU's Seattle campus. What You'll Do General Maintenance & Campus Support Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in academic, residential, and administrative buildings Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and customer-focused manner Troubleshoot maintenance issues and assist in maintaining safe and functional facilities Support seasonal campus activities and special projects as neededCollaborate with Facilities team members to support efficient building operations Equipment, Safety & Teamwork Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used in facilities maintenance Inspect work areas and ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable codes Participate in cross-training opportunities to support multiple maintenance disciplines, including carpentry, electrical systems, doors, hardware, and general repairs Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment Event Support Assist with campus event setup and support activities Transport furniture, equipment, and event materials to designated locationsSupport setup and tear-down activities for major university events, including orientation, commencement, and other campus programs Coordinate with campus partners to ensure successful event execution On-Call & Essential Operations Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately seven weeks per year) to respond to urgent maintenance issues outside normal business hours Assist with emergency maintenance needs and campus operations during inclement weather or emergency closures Support a variety of maintenance activities during on-call assignments with guidance from supervisors and team members What You Bring High school diploma or GEDMinimum of three years of experience in building maintenance, construction, facilities operations, or a related field Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and follow written and verbal instructions Demonstrated reliability, good judgment, and commitment to workplace safetyAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Strong customer service and communication skills Valid driver's license with a good driving recordAbility to operate a university service vehicle Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, working at heights, and working in indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions Ability to work in confined spaces and access building systems as needed

A personal commitment to Christian faith; enthusiasm for supporting SPU's mission; alignment with the University's Statement of Faith; and willingness to uphold the lifestyle standards of our Christian community Preferred Qualifications Education or training in facilities maintenance, construction, building systems, or a related trade Experience reading and interpreting blueprintsKnowledge of building, plumbing, electrical, and fire codes Experience working in a college, university, healthcare, hospitality, or other institutional environment Washington State Driver's License Ability to obtain and maintain a 16-hour Asbestos Worker Certification (training provided as needed) Ability to obtain and maintain an 8-hour Lead Renovator Certification (training provided as needed)
Compensation & Position Details Salary Range:
$29.32-$33.15 per hour, depending on experience

Benefits:
SPU pays employee premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance; provides HSA/HRA contributions; contributes 7% to a retirement account with immediate vesting (as eligible); and offers a tuition discount program for employees and qualified dependents. All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during university closures related to inclement weather or emergency situations.
