Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Door and Gate Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial doors, gates, and related hardware across various construction sites and commercial properties. Your expertise will ensure the safety, security, and functionality of entry systems for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize a wide range of skills, and contribute to the seamless operation of commercial access solutions. Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of commercial doors, gates, and access control systems using hand tools and power tools. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute installation and repair tasks. Perform glass installation, metal stud framing, trim carpentry, and fixture or cabinet installation as needed for door and gate systems. Conduct welding and fabrication work to modify or create custom components for door assemblies or gate structures. Utilize locksmithing skills to adjust locks, hinges, latches, and electronic access controls ensuring security compliance. Assist with electrical wiring and electrical system troubleshooting related to automated gates or electronic access devices. Heavy lifting of materials and equipment on construction sites while adhering to safety protocols; operate construction site machinery if qualified. Caulk, seal, and perform finishing work such as trim carpentry or frame adjustments for optimal operation. Read schematics to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions promptly. Maintain detailed documentation of service activities, repairs performed, parts used, and project progress. Qualifications Proven experience with construction site work involving door hanging, metal framing, or remodeling projects. Skilled in glass installation, welding, carpentry (including trim carpentry), locksmithing, electrical work, and fabrication techniques. Proficient with hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, hammers; power tools including saws and grinders; and specialized equipment relevant to door/gate installation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, mechanical systems understanding, and fixture installation. Experience working on construction sites with a focus on commercial projects involving metal stud framing or remodeling tasks is preferred. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical or mechanical issues efficiently. Valid driver's license; CDL license is a plus but not required.
