Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic supervises and directs the activities of the maintenance department, ensuring that facility and processing equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. This role leads maintenance teams in establishing and improving equipment maintenance processes, oversees installation and commissioning projects, and manages preventive maintenance programs and capital projects to support continuous improvement in a food manufacturing environment. #Maintenance Mechanics Responsibilities Supervise and direct the daily activities of employees in the maintenance department for both facilities and processing equipment. Lead the team in establishing, implementing, and improving equipment maintenance processes, including preventative inspections, corrective repairs, and overhaul planning and execution. Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment in the facility and on processing lines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Lead project teams to perform successful installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment and production lines. Oversee the dismantling, repair, and reassembly of machinery and equipment used in production processes. Manage the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of department standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure standardized work practices. Monitor the use and inventory levels of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment, and initiate reordering when necessary to avoid downtime. Inspect and audit completed maintenance work to ensure conformance with standards, compliance with procedures, and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement and manage the Preventative Maintenance program and work order program, ensuring that all personnel follow established guidelines and documentation requirements. Manage capital projects, including new production lines, process design improvements, and equipment innovations. Create and maintain a productive and safe work environment by implementing and maintaining all required safety-related training, assessments, and procedures. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to maintenance team members to help them achieve department objectives and grow their technical skills. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field. 5+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or packaging (preferred). Strong technical understanding of production equipment and maintenance operations. Proven troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Hands-on experience with preventive and preventative maintenance programs. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Experience working with heavy equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting. Electricity and PLC knowledge sufficient to support equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Proficiency with computer applications, including Excel and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work under tight timelines while delivering high-quality results. Ability to provide effective leadership and development to a maintenance team to achieve objectives and build skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Food manufacturing maintenance prefered particularly in production or packaging environments. Experience managing capital projects such as new lines, process design improvements, and equipment innovations. Experience implementing and enforcing maintenance-related SOPs and standardized work practices. Experoence in planning and executing equipment installations, commissioning, and overhauls. Experience with inventory management of spare parts, supplies, and maintenance equipment. Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to suggest and implement process and reliability improvements.Schedule:

Work Environment The role is based in a large, modern warehouse-style food production facility that maintains a comfortable temperature. The environment is very clean and organized, with the aroma of food products such as dumplings and soy sauce present throughout the facility. Noise levels can vary and may be loud in certain areas due to operating machinery and production lines. The position involves working around heavy equipment, production lines, and various mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to established procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gilroy, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
