Job Description

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production and facility equipment. Lead complex troubleshooting efforts and support rapid response to equipment downtime. Execute and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement root cause corrective actions. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Support and troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, including basic diagnostics of inputs/outputs and logic conditions. Partner with production to improve equipment efficiency, uptime, and changeover performance. Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and system upgrades. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, food safety (GMP), and company standards. Maintain accurate documentation of work orders, downtime, and parts usage within CMMS (Tofino). Train and mentor Mechanic 1 and Mechanic 2 team members on troubleshooting techniques, safe work practices, and equipment operation. Provide hands-on guidance during repairs and breakdown situations to develop team skillsets. Support onboarding of new mechanics and contractors to plant equipment and processes. Reinforce proper execution of preventive maintenance tasks and standards. Assist in developing training materials, SOPs, and standard work instructions for maintenance activities. Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and technical growth within the team. Strong understanding of electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, and control circuits. Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic for troubleshooting purposes. Understanding of PLC components including input/output modules, communication modules, and basic networking. Experience troubleshooting automated equipment and control systems in a manufacturing environment. Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and other electrical testing equipment. Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to lead complex problem-solving efforts. High level of ownership and accountability for equipment performance. Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced production environment. Strong communication and leadership presence on the production floor. Proactive approach to identifying and preventing equipment failures. Willingness to support off-shift needs or critical breakdown situations when required. Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Proven ability to work independently and lead maintenance activities. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills and experience with CMMS systems preferred. Ability to work in cold, wet, and fast-paced environments. Experience with high-speed production equipment (packaging, processing, automation). Experience working with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.). Experience supporting continuous improvement or reliability initiatives. Food manufacturing experience with GMP and sanitation requirements.
Physical Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, this position entails use of ladders and catwalks to reach production equipment, regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to extreme cold for extended periods of time. The associate frequently works in high, precarious places. The associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
