Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Tech I will perform routine building maintenance tasks. Duties include building and equipment repairs, painting, carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and groundskeeping.

Essential Duties:

• Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed mechanical and/or cosmetic repairs.
• Performs minor electrical maintenance to include replacement or repair of fixtures, wall switches, and outlets.
• Performs minor plumbing maintenance including replacement or repair of leaks in drains, faucets and toilets, etc.
• Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
• Moves, installs, and positions office, or building furniture.
• Performs general groundskeeping duties to include lawn maintenance, weed removal, planting, etc.
• Performs maintenance of sidewalks and building entrances in winter by shoveling snow, spreading salt and operating snow removal equipment to clear walks and entrances.
• Repair, install and maintain metal and wood doors, locks and closures using various hand, power, and specialty tools.
• Performs routine system management, testing and system response to facility life safety systems including but not limited to fire detection, notification, and suppression systems.
• Responds to facility or environmental emergencies including but not limited to power outages, water events, gas leaks and elevator emergencies.
• Help set up and break down of events and special functions as needed by the Hall of Fame Museum.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a facilities technician, maintenance, or similar position.
• Ability to meet deadlines and ensure quality of work.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks with minimal guidance
• Customer service attitude and ability to build rapport with diverse population.
• Excellent communication and effective listening skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
• Required to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
• Willingness to work overtime hours as needed.
• Occasional non-traditional days/hours are required.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and explosives. Fast paced working environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work standing up, walk, use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment, and speak and listen, both over the phone and in person. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to work in a seated position and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75-100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
