Job Description
Job Summary:
Performs a variety of routine and special activities for maintenance within the Public Works Department. Assists with maintenance of buildings, parks, landscaping, and playgrounds, including mowing, weed trimming, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, trash and recycling collection, and sprinkler system maintenance.Maintenance Technician I Requirements:
0 months to 3 years of related experience preferred but will train the right candidate. Some entry-level maintenance, landscaping or construction experience is helpful.Maintenance Technician II Requirements:
4-5 years journey-level experience in construction or maintenance or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Requires the ability to use computer applications and electronic mail.Essential Functions:
1. Provides maintenance of buildings, parks, weed control, landscaping and playgrounds, including mowing, weed trimming, trash collection, recycling collection, replacing light bulbs, painting (interior and exterior), fire extinguisher inspections, and sprinkler system maintenance. 2. Responsible for cleaning and servicing town restrooms including rebuilding toilets and mitigating plumbing clogs. 3. Operates small mini-loader, bucket truck and man lift equipment 4. Snow Plowing (winter): Plowing of sidewalks, parking lots, bike paths and park pathways etc. 5. Provides onsite assistance with set and tear of down for all events on Town property including set up of cones, barriers, and lighting. 6. Technician II, may assist with maintenance and installation of mechanical systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, automatic temperature controls, alarm systems and fire alarm systems. 7. May assist Streets with routine maintenance, including equipment operations, asphalt maintenance, traffic signs, water leaks etc. 8. May assist Water and Wastewater with the maintenance of these facilities when needed. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned.Other Duties:

0-2 years building maintenance or landscaping experience required High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required Valid Colorado driver license and satisfactory motor vehicle recordKnowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
1. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance, landscaping, and general construction practices, and standard safety practices. 2. Skill using basic hand tools and operating lawn mowing, landscaping and snow plowing equipment. 3. Ability to be "On Call" during non-regular hours to address snowplowing, water leaks, etc. 4. Ability to start snowplow work shift at 3:00 a.m., as required. 5. Time Management; managing one's own time and the time of others. 6. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending) is required. 7. Customer orientated verbal communication skills including the ability to interact with town employees, vendors, and the public in a positive and cooperative manner. 8. Frequent exposure to outdoor conditions and seasonal temperatures when performing job.Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position, the employee will have exposure to the following: 1. Work is usually in an outdoor environment with exposure to seasonal weather conditions. 2. Extreme temperature - seasonally. 3. Exposure to fumes, odors, and mechanical or electrical hazards associated with equipment, machinery, etc. can be expected. 4. Occasional exposure to heights while climbing ladders and working in the bucket truck or man lift. 5. Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, etc., can be expected. 6. Uniform shirt and jacket are provided. Staff provide own foot ware and pants, must be clean (no sweats or shorts) and appropriate to the work assignment. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, year-round position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Friday's we attempt to work a half day with potential for other hours to support event or snowplow schedule.Similar jobs in Eagle, CO
