Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and versatile General Handyman to join our facilities maintenance team. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, repair, and upkeep of various building systems and equipment. Your expertise will help maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all occupants. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building interior systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and mechanical equipment. Conduct repairs on electrical equipment using schematics, ohmmeters, and other hand tools to troubleshoot issues effectively. Carry out plumbing system maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal operation of water supply and drainage systems. Engage in carpentry tasks such as repairs or modifications to interior fixtures, doors, or walls. Support HVAC system repair and maintenance activities to ensure climate control systems operate efficiently. Execute painting tasks including residential painting and general maintenance painting to uphold facility aesthetics. Use schematics and technical manuals to diagnose problems accurately and implement effective solutions. Supervise or assist with maintenance projects, demonstrating leadership when needed while ensuring safety standards are maintained. Maintain facilities equipment by performing scheduled preventive maintenance and responding promptly to breakdowns or emergencies. Provide excellent customer service by addressing facility-related concerns promptly and professionally. Requirements Proven experience in general maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) within commercial or residential settings. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, etc. Electrical experience including repair of electrical equipment and understanding of electrical schematics. Familiarity with plumbing systems maintenance, repair procedures, and plumbing codes. Knowledge of HVAC systems including troubleshooting, repair, and routine servicing. Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately for electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. Experience with welding techniques is a plus for metal repairs or fabrication tasks. Supervising experience or demonstrated leadership skills in a maintenance environment preferred. Excellent communication skills in English for clear reporting and customer interactions. Certification or experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous but not mandatory. Knowledge of building interior maintenance practices including painting, carpentry, and facilities upkeep. Familiarity with electrical work such as installing or repairing electrical equipment using an ohmmeter or similar tools.
