GED Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Assistant supports the Facilities Maintenance Technician in performing a variety of tasks to maintain and repair the building and its systems. This role involves assisting with minor maintenance work, cleaning, organizing tools and materials, and performing other general duties as assigned to help ensure the facility operates smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Facilities Maintenance Technician with routine building maintenance in areas such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Help prepare work areas by gathering tools, materials, and equipment. Support installation and reconfiguration of office furniture, fixtures, and modular spaces. Perform general cleaning and light custodial duties in assigned areas (e.g., offices, hallways, restrooms, work areas). Carry and organize supplies and equipment to designated areas. Assist in inspecting and reporting equipment or facility issues needing repair. Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and assist with ordering when needed. Ensure safe working conditions by following company safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties as directed by the Facilities Maintenance Technician or management team.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent. Forklift certificate. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Willingness to learn basic maintenance and repair techniques. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work safely and use hand tools (training provided as needed). Basic computer literacy is a plus (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel). Ability to work with minimal supervision once trained.
Working Conditions:
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and push up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and move in tight spaces as needed. Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods. Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heat, noise, dust, and cleaning chemicals. Work may be performed at heights or around electrical equipment.
