Job Description

Overview:
Maintenance Mechanic (SWFLANT-2026-25921): Bowhead seeks to network with a Maintenance Mechanic to support Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic (SWFLANT). NWS mission requires the use of well-maintained and available tactical vehicles that transport security personnel and equipment in support of security operations and responses to security incidents over varying types of roads and in all weather conditions on Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay GA (NSB
KINGS BAY
).
Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Mechanics shall perform maintenance and repair for all AFVs per the respective manufacturer's technical specifications utilizing ASE Master Technicians or equivalent. Maintenance mechanics shall hold a current certification or documentation of equivalent industry experience to perform maintenance on installed engines within each vehicle. Job duties include but are not limited to: Structural welding and cutting on ferrous and nonferrous materials, as well as the diagnostics of diesel engines and electronic equipment, shall only be conducted by specifically qualified personnel. Repairs, rebuilds or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion AFV Diagnoses the source of trouble and determines the extent of repairs required Replaces worn or broken parts Grinds and adjusts valves Overhauls transmissions Repairs fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required Mechanics shall be assigned and certified to perform maintenance, towing, and repair on the AFVs used at SUBASE Kings Bay. Mechanics shall have at least two (2) years of experience in a vehicle service facility and possess demonstrated experience in wiring, electronics, automotive mechanical repairs, welding, and machine shop fundamentals. One, or all, of the mechanics may have additional duties of assisting with Supply/Logistics or ordering and receiving parts, provided all additional duties are directly related to this contract. Mechanics should be qualified to perform maintenance on: Ford 6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L diesel engines; M1151, M1141, and
M1116 HMMWV V-8
turbocharged liquid-cooled diesel engines; and large truck class Caterpillar diesel engines. A current, valid state-issued driver's license is required for the operation of the AFVs on base by the Contractor. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check.
