Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The purpose of this classification is to perform repairs, coordinate, and monitor operational building maintenance activities for Police Precincts, Arts Centers, Recreational Center, Fire Stations, and other City own facilities in multiple locations around the City of South Fulton in a variety of maintenance disciplines. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager performs a wide variety of repairs and maintenance for city building and facilities as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Perform skilled/manual work functions associated with general maintenance of assigned facilities. such as installing/repairing plumbing systems, laying tile flooring, and troubleshooting HVAC units.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities; ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.

Duties include but are not limited to repairing and maintaining facilities and equipment; performing general construction, repair, and installation tasks; performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, landscaping, and other tasksOperates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as requiredMay work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasksPerforms general maintenance, repair, and installation tasks such as installing/repairing doors, changing light bulbs, locks, fences, light plumbing duties, plumbing fixtures; replacing windows; repairing gutters and roof leaks; assembling furniture or equipment; hanging pictures, blinds, and moving furniture.

Maintains inventory levels of tools and materials orders supplies as needed; picks up special parts from supplier as appropriateIdentifies and requests supplies needed for tasks related to repairs and preventive maintenance of building systems.

Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Performs other related duties as required.

High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or electrical or a related field preferred.

Three (3) years of experience in HVAC, plumbing or electrical or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this jobRequires a valid Georgia drivers license with an acceptable driving history.
