Hotel Maintenance Engineer Overview We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and hands-on Hotel Maintenance Engineer to support the daily maintenance needs of our hotel. This position is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and hotel equipment while responding quickly to maintenance concerns that could impact guest satisfaction or room availability. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can independently troubleshoot problems, prioritize repairs, complete preventive maintenance, and follow issues through to completion. The ideal candidate is proactive and understands that identifying a problem is only the first step the goal is to repair the issue correctly and prevent it from becoming a recurring problem. Because we operate an established hotel property, the successful candidate must be comfortable working with aging equipment and building components and finding practical, cost-effective solutions whenever possible. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of guest rooms, public areas, mechanical areas, exterior areas, and hotel equipment to identify maintenance concerns before they become larger problems. Diagnose and repair

units, including cooling and heating problems, drainage issues, clogged lines, filters, thermostats, and other common operational failures. Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues, including leaking toilets, faucets, sinks, drains, supply lines, shower components, clogged drains, and water leaks. Investigate the source of leaks and water intrusion and complete appropriate repairs rather than only addressing visible damage. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including outlets, switches, lighting, fixtures, breakers, and other hotel electrical components within the scope of the position. Address guest-room maintenance issues involving doors, locks, latches, handles, furniture, fixtures, toilets, showers, sinks, lighting, walls, ceilings, flooring, and other room components. Complete drywall repairs, patching, painting, caulking, minor carpentry, and other cosmetic repairs needed to maintain guest rooms and public areas. Assist with diagnosing and correcting door and electronic lock/key system issues when appropriate. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from the Front Desk, Housekeeping, management, and guests. Prioritize repairs affecting occupied rooms, guest safety, room availability, and rooms placed Out of Order (OOO). Work closely with Housekeeping and management to return Out-of-Order rooms to inventory as quickly as reasonably possible. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on guest rooms, PTAC units, equipment, and building systems. Maintain accurate maintenance logs documenting repairs, preventive maintenance, parts needed, recurring problems, and outstanding work. Notify management immediately when an issue requires an outside contractor, specialized repair, major parts, or presents a potential safety concern. Coordinate with approved vendors and contractors when outside service is required and verify that work has been completed. Maintain an organized maintenance shop and appropriate inventory of commonly used parts, tools, filters, plumbing supplies, and repair materials. Follow all hotel safety procedures and properly use tools, ladders, chemicals, electrical equipment, and personal protective equipment. Maintain the exterior and interior appearance of the property through routine repairs and upkeep. Assist with emergency maintenance situations when necessary. Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by hotel management. Experience & Qualifications Previous hotel maintenance, apartment maintenance, commercial building maintenance, or facilities maintenance experience strongly preferred. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing
PTAC/HVAC
systems is highly preferred. Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, drywall, painting, caulking, and general building maintenance. Ability to diagnose problems and determine the appropriate repair instead of relying solely on temporary fixes. Experience working with an older or high-maintenance property is a plus. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and other maintenance equipment. Ability to manage multiple work orders and prioritize issues based on safety, guest impact, and operational urgency. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize recurring maintenance problems. Must be dependable, punctual, and capable of working with limited supervision. Professional communication skills and ability to interact appropriately with hotel guests and employees. Must be willing to communicate clearly with management regarding unresolved repairs, needed parts, vendor requirements, and anticipated completion times.
