Job Description

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i's leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit hospital delivers 6,000 babies a year, and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi'olani. The hospital is home to the Kapi'olani Women's Center and the Women's Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi'olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center. The Facilities Management department maintains a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and employees at Kapi'olani. It provides our facilities with regular maintenance of physical buildings, routine safety inspections and minor repairs to ensure that our infrastructure operates at its best. Staff perform skilled work in the repair, replacement and refinishing of equipment and systems such as electrical services, HVAC services, plumbing services, power plant operation and general maintenance of buildings and grounds with goal of providing an aesthetically pleasant, functional and safe operating environment. If you are positive, reliable and self-directed, you could help to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasant environment for Kapi'olani Medical Center as our next Maintenance Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and overseeing skilled maintenance work in the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of hospital and clinic equipment and systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, steam, plumbing, electrical distribution, emergency power, fire protection, medical gas, elevators, pneumatic tube systems, and grounds. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, organized and shares our commitment to creating a healthier Hawai'i.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree of Applied Science, Engineering or a related field OR High School or equivalent AND Technical certification in a related field OR MEP trade experience/certification OR Two (2) or more years journey-level experience. Three (3) years journey-level experience in related trades. Valid driver's license.

  • Associate's Degree.
HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation systems, and/or healthcare experience.
