Job Description

The Engineering Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in the successful opening and ongoing operation of Ka Haku, a Hilton Club, helping establish the standards, systems, and culture that will define one of Hawaiʻi's newest luxury hospitality destinations. This position oversees daily engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and resort amenities are maintained to the highest luxury standards while supporting a safe, efficient, and guest-focused environment. As a hands-on leader, the Engineering Supervisor provides technical expertise, mentorship, and operational guidance to the Maintenance Technician team, helping build a strong engineering foundation during the resort's opening phase and beyond. This role is responsible for the consistent execution of preventative maintenance programs, effective troubleshooting and repair of building systems, and the reliable operation of critical infrastructure and guest amenities. The Engineering Supervisor is instrumental in maintaining specialty resort features, including pools, water features, landscaped exterior spaces, and traditional Japanese-style ofuro soaking facilities, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards. Serving as a key liaison between engineering leadership and frontline team members, this individual champions Hilton's values, fosters a culture of accountability and excellence, and helps create memorable experiences for owners and guests from day one. Additional Responsibilities Include:
Supervise, assign, and coordinate daily work activities of Maintenance Technician I and II team members. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and task prioritization to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to luxury presentation standards. Perform hands on troubleshooting and repair of moderately to complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems as needed. Oversee preventative maintenance programs, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely execution. Monitor and support operation of specialty amenities and exterior areas, including: Pools and water features Exterior public spaces and landscaped areas Japanese style ofuro soaking facilities, including pumps, heating systems, filtration, and sanitation components Review system readings, logs, inspections, and technician documentation for accuracy and follow up. Identify recurring maintenance issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrective or long-term solutions. Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies. Coordinate repairs with vendors and contractors as directed by engineering leadership. Conduct quality assurance inspections to confirm completed work meets luxury, safety, and operational expectations. Assist with training, onboarding, and development of engineering team members. Communicate effectively with engineering leadership regarding property conditions, staffing needs, and operational risks. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and guest focused service. Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. What are we looking for? To fulfill this role efficiently, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire 3+ of related experience, ideally in hotel or resort operations 2+ years of supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in resort, hotel, or similar operational setting Working knowledge of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and life safety systems, sufficient to guide technicians and troubleshoot issues. Demonstrated ability to diagnose maintenance issues, determine corrective actions, and oversee completion of repairs. Experience providing technical guidance and direction to maintenance or engineering staff. Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs, including planning, tracking, and follow up. Ability to prioritize work, respond to operational needs, and adjust plans in a hospitality environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills to assign work, provide coaching, document issues, and communicate with leadership. Ability to maintain accurate documentation, logs, and work order records. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions: Technical/Trade school certification or equivalent in related field 5+ years of related experience 3+ years of managerial experience, preferably in hospitality or a similar setting Prior timeshare maintenance or engineering experience, with an understanding of owner-based operations and service expectations. Experience working in luxury hospitality or resort environments. Working knowledge of pool, water features, and wellness systems, including circulation, filtration, and sanitation principles. Familiarity with spa or hydrotherapy amenities, including Japanese style ofuro or soaking facilities. Experience coordinating vendors and contractors in an operating hospitality environment. Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) or digital work order platforms. Experience maintaining high end finishes, fixtures, and equipment.
