Maintenance/Groundskeeping Technician

Position Overview Joint School District 171 is seeking a versatile, self-motivated individual to assist in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our district facilities and grounds. Job Duties Building Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance tasks across all district buildings, including but not limited to minor plumbing (fixing leaks, unclogging lines), electrical (replacing bulbs/ballasts), and carpentry (drywall, paint, hardware repair).
• Assist in the oversight of mechanical rooms to ensure heating and cooling systems are functioning efficiently.
• Ensure all walkways and public areas are free of hazards and meet district safety standards. Grounds
• Responsible for mowing, edging, and fertilization programs across all district properties
• Perform winterization and de-winterization of all sports facilities, including irrigation blow-outs and the plumbing systems for concession stands and restrooms
• Perform routine tree pruning and brush removal
• Operate plows and removal equipment to keep parking lots and walkways clear during winter months Qualifications
• Applicants must have high school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrate strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Demonstrate the ability to take direction and work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
• Must be able to lift fifty pounds
• Selected applicant must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test
• Valid Driver's License required for travel between district sites
• Basic HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Construction knowledge and experience preferred.

Salary Starting hourly rate:

$22.66 Benefits Employee medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage paid 100% by the district. Family benefits paid at 80% coverage. $20,000 employee life insurance and $2,000 dependent life insurance paid by the district. Eligible for PERSI retirement
