This position requires a highly skilled, dependable, and hands-on professional with strong experience in building operations, preventative maintenance, facility management, minor repairs, inventory oversight, vendor coordination, and maintenance team supervision. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who understands how to maintain a clean, safe, and fully operational environment across diverse spaces, including office areas, food prep areas, a café, lounges, restrooms, storage spaces, creative workspaces, and event areas. This role requires strong operational awareness, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to proactively identify and address facility needs before they become operational issues. The Building & Maintenance Engineer will also supervise and train a night maintenance team to ensure the facility maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, safety, and operational readiness. - Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operational needs of the facility to ensure all spaces remain safe, clean, functional, and operational.
- Perform routine inspections of the building, equipment, and systems to identify repair or maintenance needs.
- Complete minor building repairs including basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, lighting, fixture replacement, drywall, flooring, and general maintenance work.
- Monitor and maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and safety systems.
- Ensure all restrooms, common areas, kitchens, storage spaces, lounges, offices, and workspaces are maintained at a high operational standard.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility emergencies.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce operational disruptions and extend the life of facility equipment and systems.
- Supervise and oversee the evening/night maintenance team to ensure all cleaning and maintenance responsibilities are completed efficiently and according to facility standards.
- Train maintenance staff on proper cleaning procedures, building maintenance practices, safety standards, operational expectations, and equipment usage.
- Ensure staff understand and properly use approved cleaning chemicals, maintenance products, and supplies.
- Develop and reinforce effective time management practices to ensure completion of assigned tasks within scheduled shifts.
- Maintain inventory and oversee ordering of maintenance, janitorial, operational, and building supplies.
- Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, inspections, and maintenance services.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, safety regulations, health codes, and organizational policies. Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, engineering, or property maintenance required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing or supervising maintenance staff preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of preventative maintenance, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and janitorial operations.
- Experience managing maintenance supplies, inventory, and purchasing.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation Salary range:
$60,000 - $70,000 annually, competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and operational expertise. Comprehensive compensation consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership in facility operations, maintenance management, preventative maintenance planning, and team supervision.
