A metal manufacturing organization in the northwest suburbs is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Lead / Shop Floater to support machine reliability and daily shop-floor operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong machine maintenance experience who can also step in across manufacturing functions as production needs change.

1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30

PM Pay:

$28 to $32 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities:

Inspect machinery and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operationPerform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) according to established schedulesTroubleshoot and repair production machinery and shop equipmentSupport maintenance activities that minimize downtime and keep operations movingFill in across a variety of shop-floor positions as neededFollow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work areaRead and interpret shop drawings and use basic math for maintenance and production tasks

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or training in machine shop, wood shop, or metal shop preferredAt least five years of experience in a metal fabrication, welding, tool and die, or similar manufacturing environmentHands-on machine repair and maintenance experience, including PMIsStrong mechanical aptitude, communication skills, and basic math abilityAbility to read shop drawingsTrade school training or a two-year technical degree is a plusPrior lead or supervisory experience and bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred
