Under direction, performs skilled welding in the repair, modification, and fabrication of equipment and facilities; makes mechanical repairs on a variety of heavy equipment; and performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Must pass forklift training and be certified. Must have background in electrical maintenance. Must hold an industry recognized level 3 qualification in electrotechnical services. Must have ability to handle numerous maintenance and repair issues. Be able to perform Preventative Maintenance on machinery. Must have experience in welding and fabricating. Must have good communication skills and be able to work with people from other departments in an office and manufacturing environment. Must be detail oriented and well organized. Must have good on-time attendance. Must be able to make decisions. Must be self-motivated and be able to motivate others and promote teamwork. Must be able to change from one task to another frequently. Must be able to work well with others. Must adhere to all safety and environmental policies. Must be committed to LP-9000 and continuous improvement. Mechanic Disciplines Electrical Electronics Welding Hydraulics Pneumatics Pipe Fitting Plumbing Carpentry HVAC Machinist Primary Duties & Responsibilities Repairs, modifies, designs, lays out, or fabricates (with or without blueprints). Cuts, fits, and welds metal using gas and electric welding equipment; performs skilled brazing and soldering; and uses a variety of machines, such as power saws, grinders, and drills to complete work. Interpret prints, drawings, plans, or job write-ups and apply fabrication or welding techniques to complete projects. Assist mechanics in production repairs/installation, and removal of equipment. Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications by using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment. Installs power supply wiring and conduit for installed machines and equipment, such as conveyors and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components. May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment. Other Responsibilities and Goals Obey all company safety policies, such as wearing safety glasses, ANSI approved side shields for prescription glasses, hearing protection in required areas and no open toe/heel shoes along with other company policies and procedures listed in the Leggett & Platt Employee Handbook. Maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly manner by picking up, sweeping or other methods to clean up trash scrap and place in designated containers for removal. Special attention to company when visitors come through. General housekeeping of the work area is required.
