Arbor Park School District 145 Maintenance Technician Summary Under general supervision of the CITO, performs skilled work in maintenance trades with experience in our 21st Century Operations department.
Trades include the following:
plumbing, electrical, carpentry, equipment repairs, HVAC, sprinklers, welding, locksmithing, and repairs. This individual will provide a high level of customer service to all students, staff, and administration to keep the buildings operating at a high standard level. The ability to work independently and as a team is required. Assisting in project planning, scope of work, quoting, will be required at times. This person must be a problem solver, cost saver, and provide a high level of customer service and knowledge daily. Our organization follows the Six Sigma 5S method of organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs skill maintenance, installation, and repair to all buildings and equipment in connection with the following trades. HVAC (repairs, filter replacement, testing, welding, metal fabrication) Inspecting boilers, valves, switches, water levels, ventilation Maintain proper temperatures in all buildings Electrical Carpentry Maintain all cabinetries, appliances. Apply finishes to wood, metal, glass, drywall, concrete Flooring including tile and carpet Ceiling tile repair Plumbing Repairs and maintenance Gas repairs and inspections Safety/Security Knowledge of OSHA requirements and implements them Locksmith responsibilities (hardware, cores, key control) Buildings and Grounds Maintain safe grounds outside (snow removal, pot hole repair, etc.) General landscaping (trees, mulch, tree care) Use of hand and electric tools Snow removal / salting / creating safe outdoor spaces Use of ticket / work order system including IncidentIQ and Microsoft Planner in order to keep a to-do list and maintain a fast turn around time for staff Many other misc. repairs to anything construction related to maintain a high level of service Provide custodial duties as needed Work with 3rd party contractors as needed Any other duties as assigned by Administration.
Skills & Knowledge:
Standard principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in 3 or more of the skilled trades. Requirements of maintaining buildings and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition Preventative maintenance Implement all safety precautions. Operation, use, and maintenance of powered equipment and heavy duty maintence equipment Abilities To utilize some technology including IncidentIQ, Microsoft Office, and a Windows 11 computer to access district mandated trainings To be punctual (show up on time / leave on time) Use of required tools as required. Plan and organize work – Must be an organized individual. Promote team building and a positive work environment. Be flexible, exhibit integrity, exercise mature judgement. Perform heavy physical labor Work with little to no supervision, but also on a team Carry out oral and written instructions including tickets, blueprints, and plans Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with everyone around you Travel Requirements The ability to travel between buildings. 5 buildings in total within a small geographic area. Mileage is provided when using personal vehicle, work vehicles are provided for the workday. Experience Three (3) or more years' experience in three or more of the maintenance trades at a journey level Must have good work and attendance history Licenses, Certifications, and Testing Pre-employment physical and drug test Fingerprint clearance for school personnel Qualifications Knowledge of cleaning methods, procedures, and safety issues Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work in the evening and fill in for the day position when needed Education Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to document solutions and resolutions into ticket / knowledgebase system.
Physical Demands:
Lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, climbing including ladders, and continuous standing while working. May be exposed to dust, dirt and chemicals. Work is both indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to inclement weather. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, and stoop.
