KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Perform repair and preventive maintenance on all production and facility equipment, including processing and packaging machinery Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing malfunctions or equipment failures Operate and maintain PLC, VFD, and HMI systems at a basic-to-intermediate level Assist with equipment set-up, start-up, operation, shutdown, and disassembly Conduct shift handoff discussions on the production floor at the beginning and end of each shift Spend the majority of each shift on the production floor performing PM tasks, equipment observations, and continuous improvement activities when no urgent repairs are needed Ensure all machine guarding is in place and equipment operates safely at all times Create notifications and input time accurately in the CMMS system Maintain work area, facility, grounds, and machinery in a clean and organized condition Assist with writing operating parameters and procedures as part of the maintenance team Uphold all GMP, HACCP, Allergen Control, and Food Defense policies on a daily basis Report any food safety, quality, or equipment concerns to supervision immediately Respond to radio calls promptly; escalate competing priorities to the Facility Supervisor or Manager Use all required PPE appropriate to each task Perform basic ARC and MIG welding and fabrication as needed Operate shop equipment including mill, brake, and press at a basic level Maintain regular and predictable attendance; available for overtime as needed
Needed:
High School Diploma or GED required; formal technical training in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing preferred Minimum 1-3 years of general maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Entry-level to intermediate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills with the ability to recognize and troubleshoot malfunctions and equipment failures Basic familiarity with PLC, VFD, and HMI theory and troubleshooting Proficiency or working knowledge of CMMS — ability to create work order notifications and log time Basic ARC and MIG welding and fabrication skills Ability to operate shop equipment (mill, brake, press) at a basic level Experience with or exposure to 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles and formalized problem-solving methods Must be able to follow all verbal and written work instructions, SOP's, GMP's, and safety policies Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 8+ hours, and work near moving mechanical parts and conveyors Ability to work in varying conditions including cold environments, wet/humid areas, and moderate-to-loud noise levels Must be available for overtime and 2nd shift schedule Experience in the food industry is a plus A bit about us:•Founded decades ago and based in Romeoville, IL, with additional operations supporting large-scale food production, they are a leading food manufacturing and packaging organization focused on quality, safety, and operational excellence.
