Job Description

General Labor/ Utility Operator Position Overview:
The General Labor / Utility Operator is a versatile team member responsible for supporting production, facility upkeep, and general manufacturing operations throughout the plant. This position performs a variety of tasks including operating production equipment such as saws and secondary machinery, assisting with basic maintenance and handyman projects, moving materials, maintaining work areas, and providing support wherever needed to help meet production goals. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and willing to learn multiple jobs within the facility. Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate various production equipment including saws, drill presses, tapping machines, spot welders, PEM insertion machines, and other assigned manufacturing equipment.
  • Set up and operate equipment while maintaining quality and production standards.
  • Perform material handling duties including loading, unloading, staging, and transporting materials throughout the facility.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments and notify supervisors or maintenance of equipment issues.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and simple equipment repairs under the direction of maintenance personnel.
  • Complete general handyman tasks including painting, light carpentry, minor plumbing repairs, basic electrical tasks, facility repairs, assembly, and installation projects.
  • Assist with facility maintenance including cleaning, organizing, grounds maintenance, and general housekeeping.
  • Support multiple departments as production demands require.
  • Read and follow work instructions, production schedules, and basic blueprints or drawings.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe operating condition.
  • Follow all OSHA requirements, company safety policies, PPE requirements, and Lockout/Tagout procedures where applicable.
  • Identify and report safety concerns, equipment issues, and quality concerns immediately.
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Complete production and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, construction, maintenance, or general labor experience preferred.
  • Experience operating saws or other manufacturing equipment is a plus.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to perform basic facility maintenance and handyman tasks.
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to learn multiple manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Strong work ethic with the flexibility to work in different departments as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic production or equipment issues.
  • Excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Physical Requirements (ADA)
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8-12 hours per shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, reach overhead, and work in varying positions.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to safely operate machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to safely perform assigned work while following all company safety requirements.
Pay:
$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
