Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description This industrial maintenance role supports a fast-paced assembly and manufacturing operation by keeping production equipment running safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Technician focuses primarily on reactive maintenance while also performing scheduled preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical and electrical systems. Responsibilities Perform approximately 80% reactive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and keep the manufacturing process running smoothly. Troubleshoot and repair CNC tube benders, welders, sensors, motors, and hydraulic and pneumatic components. Carry out minor facilities maintenance such as adding light switches and outlets, moving equipment or fixtures, basic plumbing tasks, and drywall repairs as needed. Perform preventive maintenance (approximately 20% of the time), including replacing bearings, lubricating grease points, and completing other scheduled tasks. Review and prioritize work orders at the start of the shift and independently execute assigned tasks throughout the day. Complete wiring and electrical work on equipment and systems up to 220 volts in accordance with safety standards. Work with and maintain three-phase motors, ensuring proper operation and addressing issues promptly. Use mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective repairs. Fabricate or modify parts and components when necessary to support equipment repairs and improvements. Interpret and work from blueprints and industrial documentation to diagnose issues and complete repairs accurately. Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to communicate equipment status and coordinate repairs. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting and repair in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical maintenance skills with the ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment issues. Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair of related components. Proven preventive maintenance experience, including tasks such as bearing replacement and lubrication. Experience working with 220-volt electrical systems and circuits in an industrial setting. Ability to perform electrical work, including wiring and basic circuit troubleshooting, up to 220 volts. Experience working with three-phase motors, including basic diagnosis and repair. Ability to fabricate parts or components when necessary to complete repairs or improvements. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and industrial documentation. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently from work orders. Ownership of a basic set of tools suitable for mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Michigan City, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
