Prototypes Full Job Description Overview:
We are seeking a full-time Technical Lead Antenna Engineer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for being a key technical contributor in major product development projects with significant new applications of antenna design.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions Provides key technical contributions in the design and review of complex antenna design that are new to Garmin Proposes antenna architecture consisting of one or more antennas in one product Provides significant contribution to antenna design reviews across multiple product types Evaluates new antenna manufacturing technologies, features, and functions Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced antenna engineers (Antenna Engineer, Senior Antenna Engineer) Demonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including operations, production, sales, and marketing Offers process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate Defines general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems considered state of the art and applies extensive technical expertise/analysis to all assigned projects Completes broadly defined complex tasks including taking conceptual antenna ideas and putting them to practice Regularly demonstrates creativity and ingenuity to develop reliable solutions to complex antenna problems and contribute towards Garmin's intellectual property Participates in recruiting activities as assigned
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 9 years industry experience in antenna design for consumer electronics OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Innovative with at least one granted US patent (utility) or innovation award related to antenna Demonstrates ability to develop and review complex antenna designs including simulations, prototyping and measurements Must possess the ability to design antenna system architectures consisting of one or more antennas Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Extensive circuit design experience for consumer or aviation products Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
