Maintenance Technician Job Description This 1st shift Maintenance Technician role focuses on maintaining, servicing, and repairing plant machinery, electrical systems, and facility equipment. The technician plans and performs a wide range of tasks, including gas and arc welding, flame cutting, and fabrication operations, while ensuring equipment reliability and safe plant operations. Candidates should bring at least 3+ years of industry experience or a degree equivalent in a related field, along with a strong electrical maintenance background. Responsibilities Plan and perform maintenance, service, and repair activities on plant machinery, electrical systems, and facility equipment. Carry out a normal range of gas and arc welding, flame cutting, and fabrication operations to support equipment repair and modification. Interpret wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and blueprints to diagnose and complete electrical and mechanical work accurately. Test and inspect pumps and associated devices to verify proper operation and identify potential issues. Determine and trace the cause of equipment problems by performing thorough troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Perform routine maintenance and service tasks to keep plant machinery and equipment in optimal working condition. Lubricate plant machinery and equipment according to maintenance schedules to reduce wear and extend equipment life. Use quality measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances during maintenance and fabrication work. Apply PLC knowledge to assist in troubleshooting and resolving control system issues as needed. Use electrical troubleshooting techniques and measuring devices to identify, diagnose, and correct electrical faults. Follow safety procedures and best practices while working in a heavy industrial environment around copper and scrap materials. Collaborate with team members and communicate equipment status, issues, and completed work to ensure smooth plant operations. Essential Skills Minimum of 3+ years of electrical maintenance experience in an industrial or similar environment, or a degree equivalent in a related field. Proven experience as a maintenance technician working with plant machinery, electrical systems, and facility equipment. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, installation drawings, and blueprints for electrical and mechanical systems. Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Ability to test and inspect pumps and associated devices to ensure proper function. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the use of appropriate measuring devices. Experience using quality measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures. Basic to intermediate PLC knowledge to support troubleshooting and maintenance activities. Ability to perform gas and arc welding, flame cutting, and fabrication operations as part of maintenance and repair work. Comfort working in a dirty industrial environment around copper and scrap materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree or technical diploma in a related field is considered an equivalent to the required years of experience. Familiarity with upgraded and modernized equipment in an industrial setting. Experience working in a unionized environment is a plus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. Work Environment This position operates in a heavy industrial, dirty work environment where you will regularly be around copper and scrap materials. The facility consists of two buildings, including one with more recently upgraded equipment where this role is primarily based. The schedule follows a rotating pattern from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am: work two days, off two days, work two days, off three days, work two days, off two days. You will work with plant machinery, electrical systems, pumps, and control equipment, using tools such as measuring devices, welding equipment, and PLC-related diagnostic tools. Appropriate work attire and safety gear are expected to align with industrial conditions and safety standards. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Eminence, KY.
