POSITION SUMMARY
Patrols assigned areas to protect persons and property. Ensures campus buildings and offices are secured at their proper times. Completes maintenance checks and light maintenance tasks in and around campus facilities.
Hours :
16-24 hours per week (two to three, 8-hour shifts per week)
Available Shifts:
Monday-Friday:
4 p.m. to 12 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Saturday-Sunday:
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. and 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. Holiday hours may vary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Perform multiple rounds, per shift, of Seminary properties and buildings, examining doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secured at their proper times, depending upon hours of operation. Inspect premises for signs of intrusion and interruption of utility service. Inspect burglar alarm and fire extinguisher sprinkler systems to ascertain they are set to operate. Answer alarm, investigate disturbances, and alert the appropriate person(s) of any problems. Record irregularities and submit a written Security Report at the end of each shift. Complete maintenance checks at least once per shift. This includes checking interior and exterior lights, including exit lights and pole lights, and recording lights that are out; checking all campus mechanical rooms and the Facilities boiler room for water and steam leaks and equipment abnormalities; checking campus bathrooms for running water, leaks, and water overflows. Complete what is immediately necessary for emergencies such as mopping up or shutting off water to prevent further leaks. Contacts Facilities to report all maintenance issues. Contact Facilities on-call staff after hours if maintenance issues are a high priority. Complete elevator checks, per state requirements, once per month. Provide escort service as requested for students, staff, and faculty walking on campus at night. Monitor campus cameras from the Security office. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED
: Able to read, write, speak, and understand English well. Previous security experience and/or police work would be beneficial. Able to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis. Able to occasionally lift a moderate weight and reach overhead. Able to work both independently and with others. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills. Able to pass a background check and drug screening. Able to cover other security shifts due to absence and sickness when needed.
