A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.
New Orleans to Mississippi Gulf Coast DSI is expanding our service coverage along the Gulf Coast and is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Commercial Door Installation & Service Technician to join our team. This position will service a territory extending from the Mississippi-Alabama state line across the Mississippi Gulf Coast to New Orleans and the surrounding market. This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a seasoned commercial door professional — a true "Door Man" — with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on commercial/industrial door experience. Residential experience does not meet the requirements for this position.
THE POSITION
The Installation & Service Technician will be responsible for the service, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and installation of commercial and industrial door systems Loading dock systems and related equipment throughout our Gulf Coast service territory. The primary territory will include the Mississippi Gulf Coast, New Orleans, and surrounding Southeast Louisiana areas , with service coverage extending from the Mississippi-Alabama state line west through the New Orleans market. Our technicians work on a wide range of commercial opening and facility equipment, including: Hollow metal doors and frames Commercial door hardware Automatic doors and operators Storefront doors Rolling steel and sectional doors Specialty commercial door systems Loading dock equipment and related systems The successful candidate must be equally comfortable installing new work and diagnosing and repairing existing equipment. We are looking for someone who understands the trade, can troubleshoot problems efficiently, takes pride in craftsmanship, and can be trusted to represent DSI professionally in the field.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Candidates must have: Minimum 5 years of commercial/industrial door installation and service experience Strong installation, repair, and troubleshooting abilities Working knowledge of commercial doors, frames, hardware, and related systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency Professional appearance and attitude Excellent dependability and work ethic Pride in workmanship and the ability to complete work efficiently Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to meet DSI's background and drug-screening requirements We are specifically seeking an experienced tradesman. If your experience is primarily residential doors, garage doors, general construction, or handyman work without substantial commercial door experience, this position is not the right fit.

INITIAL TRAINING & PROCEDURE ORIENTATION
Although we are hiring an experienced commercial door technician, every new technician must complete an initial DSI training and procedure orientation period to become familiar with our service standards, documentation, systems, safety procedures, and expectations. This initial period will require approximately 1-2 weeks of out-of-town travel and overnight stay. All approved travel, lodging, and related business expenses will be covered by DSI. Applicants should be prepared and available to complete this training period as a condition of employment.
