Job Description

The Mechanic 2, who reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, maintains, repairs, and replaces various hospital equipment, operates standby equipment in case of plant systems failure, repairs mechanical failures in the fire alarm system, repairs food preparation equipment, and maintains and repairs the hospital air conditioning system in an effort to ensure patient, visitor, and employee comfort. The Mechanic 2 repairs various electrical equipment, performs basic plumbing repairs, maintains required maintenance records and information, attends meetings, participates on committees, and if a Locksmith, installs locks and door hardware, cuts keys, rekeys locks, and performs evening fire door checks in an effort toward promoting a safe and reliable environment for the provision of quality health care services. 1 year in building or hospital maintenance High School Diploma or Equivalent Preventative Maintenance & Repair Repairs lighting systems by replacing bulbs, ballasts, broken plugs, and switches in an effort to provide proper hospital lighting and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the provision of high-quality health care services. Maintains and repairs hospital air conditioning system by changing air filters and replacing and calibrating thermostats in an effort to ensure patient, visitor, and employee comfort. Operates standby equipment including boilers, cooling towers, and electrical lines in case of plant systems failure. Repairs steam lines, pumps, motors, and generators in a manner that promotes safety and conforms to hospital standards. Productivity Repairs or replaces television sets, nurse call systems, and other electrical equipment as requested in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains all required records and information pertinent to maintenance and repair costs with special attention given to the accuracy and details of reported information. Other Duties as Assigned Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
