Replace mechanical parts and components as needed, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and safe operation. Support welding and fabrication projects to repair, modify, or improve equipment and facility structures. Assist with hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance, including troubleshooting leaks, pressure issues, and component failures. Use machine shop and fabrication tools when required to manufacture or modify parts for maintenance projects. Coordinate maintenance schedules with production teams to balance preventive work and urgent repairs. Order, track, and manage spare parts and maintenance inventory to ensure critical components are available when needed. Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or maintenance documentation processes to record work performed, parts used, and equipment status. Interpret and work from manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications to perform accurate repairs and installations. Apply lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment during maintenance activities. Maintain safe working conditions by following safety guidelines, using required personal protective equipment, and identifying hazards. Collaborate closely with production and operations personnel to plan repairs, coordinate downtime, and communicate equipment status. Participate in industrial automation and control-related maintenance tasks where applicable, supporting reliable equipment operation. Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting maintenance-related process improvements and reliability enhancements. Provide clear updates to leadership and team members on maintenance progress, equipment issues, and repair timelines. Contribute to a multi-craft maintenance environment by assisting across mechanical, electrical, welding, fabrication, and automation tasks as needed. Essential Skills Prior industrial or mechanical maintenance experience with hands-on repair, troubleshooting, and upkeep of production equipment. Strong mechanical maintenance skills, including experience with bearings, drive systems, motor repair, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability to quickly identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective repairs. Experience performing preventive maintenance activities to improve machine reliability and maximize uptime. Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications to guide maintenance work. Basic electrical knowledge and electrical troubleshooting experience for production equipment, within appropriate safety guidelines. Welding ability to support equipment repairs, fabrication tasks, and maintenance projects throughout the facility. Experience with fabrication and machine shop practices to modify or create parts and components when needed. Familiarity with industrial automation concepts and production machinery operation in a manufacturing environment. Ability to safely use hand and power tools, as well as shop and fabrication equipment, in accordance with safety standards. Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and strong safety awareness when working around active machinery and hazardous equipment. Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with maintenance colleagues, production staff, and leadership. High school diploma or equivalent education. Physical ability to perform maintenance work, including climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching in an industrial setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical degree, trade school certificate, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or related fields. Manufacturing maintenance background, particularly in environments such as packaging, paper products, plastics, food manufacturing, printing operations, corrugated packaging, metal fabrication, industrial equipment manufacturing, or building materials manufacturing. Experience working in fast-paced production environments with a mix of preventive maintenance and urgent repair work. Proficiency with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking work orders, parts usage, and equipment history. Additional experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and component replacement. Advanced welding and fabrication skills for complex repair and improvement projects. Experience with machine shop operations, including operating lathes, mills, or other equipment to produce or modify parts.
