Job Description
Facilities Technician 1550 Boston, Massachusetts, United States Description The Facilities department seeks a Facilities Technician to assist in the operations, maintenance, and repairs to the University's buildings and grounds as well as light HVAC repairs. The typical work schedule is an 8-hour shift during a 40-hour work week. Some overtime required. Responsible for general maintenance including painting Completes facilities work and room set-ups initiated by faculty, staff, and students Troubleshoots, repairs and maintains the building systems and facilities as required Assists with the completion of small-scale carpentry projects Performs repairs of doors, hardware, and basic locksmith tasks Completes light electrical repairs to appliances, fixtures and switches Completes light plumbing repairs to water and sewage systems including replacement of fittings and clearing of stoppages Parks cars Repairs and replaces of glass, tile, screens, locks, drapes Assists in removal of snow and ice as needed Assists in small office moves Carries out preventative maintenance tasks as assigned Participates in the on-call rotation for emergency situations such as inclement weather or mechanical failures Additional responsibilities may be assigned by supervisor
Requirements Required:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED A valid driver's license Basic knowledge of all building systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical) Basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of building materials, size, and nomenclature Ability to work with hand tools Basic computer skills Demonstrated ability to work with peers Ability to manage and multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines Must be able to communicate and read English, follow verbal and written instruction The ability to occasionally work off-hours and weekendsPhysical Requirements:
Must be able to climb ladders Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs Must be able to crawl under desks Must be able to be constantly exposed to weather conditions Must spend considerable time on feet Must be available in the event of an emergency Compensation The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.Hiring Range:
