Job Description
The Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District is seeking a dependable and skilled Utility Worker to perform a variety of custodial, mechanical, and general maintenance tasks throughout the district. This position requires a flexible and hands-on individual who can assist with day-to-day facility operations, including support for custodial, groundskeeping, and maintenance teams.
Responsibilities:
Perform custodial duties including cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting as required by school and public health guidelines.
Carry out district-wide furniture relocations, medical equipment move and general deliveries.
Provide backup coverage for daytime custodians across school buildings.
Assist groundskeeping staff with outdoor tasks including mowing, trimming, and general landscaping; must be willing to learn how to make ready and maintain all playing fields; must be able to operate lawnmowers, weed trimmers, and other related equipment.
Support trades and maintenance personnel, requiring competency with basic hand and power tools.
Perform carpentry work including assembly, repairs, and minor installations.
Conduct drywall (sheetrock) repairs, taping, and painting of walls and surfaces.
Troubleshoot and perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on small engines (e.g., mowers, snow blowers, etc.) and fleet vehicles.
Utilize basic computer skills to complete work orders, log assignments, or report maintenance issues, including regularly checking work email and calendar invites.
Maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment in and around buildings and facilities.
Interact professionally with staff, students, and community members; demonstrate maturity, reliability, and sound judgment.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Demonstrated experience or skills in mechanical repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting.
Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.
Working knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school personnel.
Physical ability to lift heavy objects (furniture, equipment, etc.), work on lifts or ladders, and perform manual labor in a variety of conditions.
Valid driver's license preferred.
