Maintenance Engineer Position Summary The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, upkeep, and preventive maintenance of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems. This role guarantees that guest areas, back-of-house areas, and hotel infrastructure meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and luxury presentation. The Maintenance Engineer works closely with all hotel departments to respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on hotel equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting and building systems Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house departments Inspect hotel facilities regularly to identify potential issues and ensure operational standards are maintained Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective equipment, systems, or components Maintain and update maintenance logs, reports, and documentation of completed work Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers as required Ensure compliance with safety codes, local regulations, and hotel policies Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, and report shortages or malfunctions Assist in the setup and installation of new equipment or systems in guest rooms and public areas Support energy conservation initiatives and preventive maintenance programs Perform emergency repairs as needed, including after-hours and weekend duties Work closely with housekeeping, engineering, and other departments to ensure minimal disruption to guests and hotel operations Adhere to hotel policies regarding safety, guest privacy, and professional conduct Maintain a clean and organized work environment in workshops, storage areas, and service areas Qualifications Vocational training, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems Previous hotel or hospitality maintenance experience preferred, luxury hotel experience a plus Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, paint and maintenance equipment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability Professional appearance and demeanor Other Duties This job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities.
