A Building and General Maintenance Technician performs building maintenance and appliance repairs for an apartment complex, housing division, residential center or business, as directed by a property manager.

The Simon Companies is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for our Fitchburg, MA property - Meadowbrook Village Townhomes (https://www.meadowbrookma.com). We own and manage this property, and our pride shows in it. This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 1-3 months. Depending on business needs and performance, there may be an opportunity for the role to become permanent. This role has a focus on preventative maintenance, apartment turnovers, resident service requests, and customer service. 40-hour work week - 8:00 am - 4:30 pm is a typical day. Must live within a 30-minute drive and participate in rotating on-call, typically every 2-4 weeks.
General duties:
Perform high quality maintenance work, including general carpentry, light electrical, light plumbing. Turn-over apartments in a timely manner. Upkeep grounds and complete curb appeal projects. Interact with tenants in a respectful manner as a company representative. Professional property maintenance experience is required. Must be able to work without supervision and be able to meet deadlines. A focus on long-term solutions with an emphasis on preventative maintenance is key to success in this role. Strong customer service skills are required. Other desired experience (not required): Framing, sheet rock, mud/tape, subfloor replacement Plumbing - tub / vanity replacement Tiling and water sealing Snow removal is largely outsourced. Must be able to continuously lift items, use ladders, climb stairs, drive a car, maintain a valid driver's license, and have reliable transportation.
