Position Description:
Join a dynamic facilities maintenance team as a Maintenance Technician II in Waltham, MA. This full-time contract-to-hire role offers a fantastic opportunity to apply your technical skills in commercial and industrial building environments. You'll perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure building systems operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include documenting work in the CMMS, supporting facility operations, and delivering excellent customer service. Work independently or collaboratively to maintain a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for all occupants.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine repairs on commercial building systems and equipment Troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general building issues Monitor equipment performance, document maintenance activities, and report concerns promptly Perform tasks such as filter changes, lubrication, belt replacement, coil cleaning, painting, and minor carpentry repairs Communicate effectively with occupants, vendors, and team members to provide exceptional customer service Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements Support contractors, special projects, and overall facility operations while maintaining organized work areas
Top Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training preferred Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in commercial or industrial settings Valid
EPA 608 CFC
certification and valid driver's license required; certifications in forklift, aerial lift, OSHA, or related areas are a plus Strong reading and interpreting skills for safety procedures, manuals, blueprints, and work orders Proficient in basic algebra, geometry, and measurement calculations for maintenance activities Basic knowledge of building systems, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry skills Ability to safely operate hand/power tools, lifts, and forklifts with certification Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, handle tools, reach, and communicate effectively. Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to adjust focus and perform in diverse work environments, with accommodations available for those with disabilities.
