Job Title:
Industrial Maintenance Technician - Afternoon Shift Job Description This role focuses on maintaining and repairing plant equipment in a pre-mix concrete manufacturing facility, with a strong emphasis on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. The technician works an afternoon shift and ensures safe, reliable operation of production machinery through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call support when issues arise outside regular hours. Responsibilities Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions on plant equipment and complete timely repairs and preventive maintenance. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly schematic drawings to diagnose issues and guide repairs. Replace or repair faulty electrical components, including switches and motors, and install power supply wiring as needed. Calibrate, adjust, and maintain electrical and electronic equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Perform minor programming and maintenance on programmable logic controller (PLC)-based equipment, including basic PLC troubleshooting. Carry out lock-out/tag-out procedures to ensure safe work practices during maintenance and repair activities. Assist with plant mechanical maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and general industrial mechanical repairs. Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and other shop tools to complete mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks. Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed to support maintenance and production activities. Support machine operation and ensure equipment is running safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Respond to equipment breakdowns, including being on-call outside of regular shift hours when urgent issues arise. Maintain a clean and organized work area in a dusty, messy concrete production environment. Collaborate with a small team of shop employees to prioritize maintenance tasks and minimize equipment downtime. Essential Skills Strong industrial electrical skills, including troubleshooting electrical problems on equipment. Ability to work with both low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems safely and effectively. Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical issues on industrial machinery and production equipment. Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or plant environment. Mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, and general mechanical repairs. Hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair work. Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and schematic drawings. Experience with PLC troubleshooting and minor programming or maintenance on PLC-based equipment. Comfort operating forklifts and other machinery related to plant operations. Basic welding skills for repair and maintenance tasks. Capability to work safely and consistently follow lock-out/tag-out procedures. Must possess both industrial electrical and mechanical skills suitable for a concrete plant environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior industrial maintenance experience in a concrete, building materials, or heavy manufacturing setting. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in an industrial environment. Familiarity with machine operation in a plant or production facility. Ability to work effectively in a small team of 4-5 employees. Comfort working in conditions that may be cold in winter and hot in summer, with exposure to dust and messy materials. Work Environment The role is based in a pre-mix concrete plant that produces building and landscaping products such as hardscapes, masonry materials, packaged cement mixes, lawn and garden products, and composite decking. The technician works in a small shop environment with approximately 4-5 employees, fostering close collaboration and teamwork. The afternoon shift runs from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with an additional shift differential for this schedule, and there may be on-call responsibilities for breakdowns outside regular hours. The plant environment can be cold during the winter and hot during the summer, and the nature of pre-mix concrete production means it can be messy and dusty. Daily work involves frequent use of electrical test equipment, hand and power tools, welding equipment, forklifts, and interaction with PLC-controlled machinery in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
