1st Shift Maintenance Technician Job Description The 1st Shift Maintenance Technician supports daily operations in an industrial manufacturing facility by performing mechanical, electrical, and building maintenance tasks. Working on the 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift, this role focuses on equipment repair, troubleshooting, and routine upkeep to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production. Responsibilities Perform routine and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations. Use hand and power tools, especially wrenches, on a daily basis to assemble, disassemble, adjust, and repair mechanical components. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including working with standard industrial voltages such as 240V and 480V, in both AC and DC applications. Diagnose and repair equipment involving water systems and pneumatic components, ensuring proper function and reliability. Conduct building maintenance tasks as needed, including general repairs and upkeep to support a clean and safe working environment. Inspect machinery and systems regularly to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support accurate recordkeeping and efficient future troubleshooting. Follow established safety procedures and maintenance best practices while working with electrical systems, tools, and industrial equipment. Essential Skills 1-2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Daily proficiency using hand and power tools, with strong experience working with wrenches. Knowledge of electrical practices and the ability to work safely with standard industrial voltages such as 240V and 480V, in both AC and DC systems. Experience repairing equipment that uses water and pneumatic concepts, including troubleshooting and component replacement. Experience in plastics manufacturing or similar industrial production environment. Strong attention to detail when inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience repairing a variety of industrial machines and production equipment. General building maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting. Ability to read and understand basic instructions, work orders, and maintenance documentation. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
