Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician supports a fast-paced manufacturing operation by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems on a 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This role focuses on preventative and predictive maintenance, rapid response to equipment issues, and continuous improvement of equipment reliability to minimize downtime and keep production running efficiently. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools, manuals, and schematics. Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize production interruptions. Conduct routine inspections and equipment audits to identify potential issues and ensure equipment operates within specifications. Install, test, and maintain new production equipment, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and safe operation. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order documentation, and records of repairs, inspections, and parts used. Coordinate closely with machine operators and production leadership to schedule maintenance, communicate status updates, and support production goals. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company maintenance policies. Assist with facility maintenance projects, including building systems, infrastructure, and general upkeep as needed. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform repairs, adjustments, and installations. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Essential Skills At least 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production machinery and equipment. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for a wide range of production equipment. Electrical troubleshooting experience, including identifying and resolving faults in electrical systems. Experience working with preventative maintenance programs and schedules. Proficiency using hand and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks. Comfort working around moving machinery, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment in a fast-paced environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications PLC troubleshooting experience, with Allen-Bradley systems preferred. Experience working with ultrasonic welding machines. Experience in maintaining printing or packaging equipment. Experience performing maintenance on HP Indigo presses. Familiarity with conveyor maintenance and related systems. Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics for advanced troubleshooting. Experience working with ultrasonic welding and other specialized production technologies is a plus. Work Environment The work is highly hands-on and involves regular repair and maintenance of production equipment, conveyors, and related systems. You will frequently be exposed to moving machinery, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment, and will spend much of the shift walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders, and lifting as needed to access and service equipment. The environment is team-oriented, with frequent interaction and collaboration with machine operators and production leadership to coordinate work and support production goals. Occasional emergency breakdown response and overtime may be required to support continuous operations. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required based on specific maintenance activities and areas of the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Arlington Heights, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00
