Job Title:
Maintenance Technician -Day Shift (Automation Focus) Job Description This role supports a fast-paced distribution facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing automated material handling and facility systems on the night shift. You will work hands-on with conveyors, automation equipment, and facility infrastructure to keep operations running safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime, while documenting maintenance activities and collaborating closely with operations and engineering teams. Responsibilities Perform regular preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on conveyor systems, including fabricating, installing, and repairing conveyor components, while maintaining accurate maintenance records. Participate in testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting issues with automated equipment such as conveyor systems, v-belt transfers, Bombay unit sortation systems, carton erectors, banding machines, MCC cabinets, stretch wrappers, vision systems, scanners, and printers. Support maintenance and repair of facility systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, elevators, forklifts, and other equipment associated with the operation of a distribution facility. Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, and similar components as needed to restore safe and reliable operation. Set up and operate welders, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other metalworking equipment to fabricate or modify parts and perform mechanical repairs. Participate in troubleshooting of microcontrollers and PLC-based systems, including platforms such as Omron, Mitsubishi, and Keyence, with the ability to identify correct I/O points and match addressing with machine schematics. Review and interpret machine schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support accurate diagnosis and effective repair of equipment issues. Participate in equipment problem evaluations, identifying root causes, detecting defective materials or components, and reporting findings and recommendations for corrective actions. Apply a strong understanding of safety circuits, relays, interlocks, and emergency stop circuits when troubleshooting and repairing equipment to ensure safe operation. Use PC-based tools and software, including Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD, to document maintenance work, update records, and support continuous improvement efforts. Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and other departments regarding equipment status, repair progress, and any issues that may impact operations. Work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, metric-driven environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities and operational needs. Follow all safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions, ensuring compliance with facility standards and promoting a safe, clean, and organized workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
