Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician completes planned and emergency maintenance assignments safely and efficiently, ensuring production and packaging equipment operates reliably. This role focuses on inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting smooth manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Complete planned and emergency maintenance work assignments in a safe and timely manner. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on conveyors, gear reducers, chains, belt drives, cappers, fillers, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and other production equipment. Troubleshoot and repair equipment electrically, including motors, PLCs, gear boxes, and control panels. Maintain packaging and production systems to minimize downtime and support consistent output. Operate machinery as needed to support maintenance and production activities. Accurately complete all required records and paperwork, ensuring documentation is neat, thorough, and submitted promptly. Respond to equipment breakdowns on the production floor and in clean room areas, diagnosing issues and implementing effective repairs. Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring equipment problems and recommending maintenance or process improvements. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience repairing production or manufacturing equipment. Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical repair skills, including work on conveyors, gear reducers, chains, belt drives, cappers, and fillers. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair. Electrical maintenance skills, including motors, PLCs, gear boxes, and control panels. Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and related electrical systems. Proficiency in maintenance repair and troubleshooting across mechanical and electrical systems. Ability to operate production machinery safely and effectively. Strong attention to detail and ability to complete maintenance records accurately and on time. Additional Skills & Qualifications Welding experience is preferred but not required. Experience in packaging or labeling operations is beneficial. Experience working on production floors and in clean room environments. Comfort working in a mid-sized manufacturing setting with cross-functional teams. Work Environment This role is based in a mid-sized manufacturing facility in Hunt Valley, MD that focuses on packaging and labeling operations. The site employs approximately 60 people, including a dedicated maintenance department of about 9 team members, fostering a close-knit and collaborative environment. The facility is clean and well-maintained, with a strong emphasis on safety. You will work primarily on the production floor repairing machinery and will regularly access a clean room area, following appropriate safety and cleanliness protocols. The environment supports hands-on work with production equipment and offers exposure to a variety of manufacturing systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cockeysville, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
