American Overhead Door & Dock, Inc., headquartered in Levittown, PA, has been a cornerstone in the commercial door and dock industry since its inception in 1989. Founded by Joe Swope Jr., the company began as a one-man operation with a singular mission: to keep customers' equipment running smoothly. Operating initially from a 1985 Ford F-150, Joe's dedication and vision have propelled the company to become one of the largest and most respected commercial door and dock companies in the Tri-State area, serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, and select other regions. What is the role? We are seeking a skilled and experienced Overhead Door and Dock Mechanic/Installer to join our team out of our Glen Burnie, MD office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead doors, loading dock equipment, and related mechanical and electrical components. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure safety and functionality.
What you will be doing:
Install, repair, and maintain overhead doors, loading dock equipment, and industrial door systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in door and dock systems. Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Use hand and power tools effectively to complete installations and repairs. Provide excellent customer service while working on-site at customer locations. Adhere to all company and industry safety guidelines. Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job. What you will need to be successful: High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in overhead door or dock equipment installation and repair preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus. Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 75 pounds) and work in various weather conditions. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
