Job Description

The hiring salary for this position is $46,871 - $49,579 annually. The full range for this position is $46,871 - $71,431 annually.
Job Summary:
Performs a broad range of maintenance and construction duties, including, but not limited to, carpentry, roofing, framing, electrical, and plumbing, on buildings, grounds and equipment found in water and wastewater facilities. Position reports to the Waste Water Collections Superintendent.
Examples of Duties Essential Functions:
Performs light construction, repairs and maintenance to buildings, grounds, and structures used to provide water and wastewater service, including, but not limited to, carpentry, roofing, framing, electrical and plumbing Performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties, including, but not limited to, clearing ditches and fence lines, cutting grass, edging, lawn restoration Develops material lists, obtains pricing and creates purchase requests as needed to complete projects Monitors work of various supply or service contractors Cleans, prepares, and applies protective coatings to wood, metal, concrete, or other surfaces, including buildings, floors and water storage tanks Utilizes computer skills to generate and close work orders as needed to track job status

Performs other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.): Ability to gain working knowledge of St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission policies and procedures Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission to the public Strong knowledge of relevant construction, maintenance and repair practices and procedures as they relate to building and grounds maintenance; (construction, electrical, plumbing and mechanical) Knowledge of safety regulations and established procedures for operating, repairing, removing and installing equipment/materials as well as for ensuring safety Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members and the public; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; (job estimates, material pricing and purchasing) Ability to wear appropriate PPE for chemical protection, including respiratory gear Required Qualifications (

Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.): Training and/or
Education:
HS Diploma or GED and one to two years of job-related experience
Experience:
Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience
Licenses or Certificates:
Must possess a valid Maryland driver's license,

Work demands occasional strenuous effort. For example, handling moderately heavy tools, equipment, or materials of 30 to 60 pounds or more.
