Job Description

This Electrical/Instrumentation Technician position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all electrical and instrumentation equipment in the facility. This role will perform work requiring a high level of skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation of power plant equipment and systems. Individuals who have demonstrated experience in a multi-skill set that are needed at power plants are preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Read and interpret isometric drawings, process flow diagrams, and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and electrical diagrams. Perform power plant maintenance activities including troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and tuning of instrumentation and electrical systems. Maintain and troubleshoot 480V through 4160V electrical systems including motors, transformers, and associated switchgear. Troubleshoot and repair 24VDC to 125VDC control systems including switches, solenoids, protective relays, and switchgear. Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation including pressure, flow, differential pressure, and level transmitters. Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive calibration program for applicable plant equipment. Diagnose, repair, and maintain control valves, block valves, and manual isolation valves. Respond to plant power outages and equipment failures as required to support reliable operations. Assist with maintaining spare parts inventory and support physical inventory activities. Maintain plant operating manuals, technical references, prints, diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records. Assist with operation of plant equipment and systems as directed. Support and actively participate in all safety and regulatory compliance programs. Promote teamwork and maintain effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment. Complete required operations and maintenance training and qualification programs. Make timely and effective decisions during non-routine plant operating situations. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to seek additional training and certifications as the site sees fit. 2-5 + years related experience required working in a power plant environment or relevant military experience. Should be familiar with the usage of test equipment and other precision test instruments to be used in identifying problems. Completion of technical training in electrical or instrumentation Specific power plant experience Physical requirements include lifting 40 to 75 pounds, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, etc. Work may be performed around rotating equipment and highly energized and/or pressurized systems. Capability to multi-task and prioritize work. Ability to handle constantly changing and emerging work priorities and schedules. Ability to work effectively with other team members. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with various personality types desired. Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and other computer-based productivity tools. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business.
