We're seeking a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and handling a variety of day-to-day property maintenance needs. You'll complete resident maintenance requests, make common repairs, prepare homes between residents, and help keep our properties in great shape. This is a general maintenance position—not a licensed plumbing, electrical, or HVAC role. We expect our technicians to handle common repairs, basic maintenance, and initial troubleshooting, and to refer more advanced work to our specialized trade vendors. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repairs
  • Complete resident maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
  • Handle general repairs and routine property maintenance.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs such as faucets, toilets, drains, disposals, and minor leaks.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs such as switches, outlets, fixtures, and troubleshooting simple issues.
  • Perform basic HVAC maintenance and diagnostics, including changing filters, checking thermostats, and identifying common issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair appliances when appropriate.
  • Complete basic carpentry, drywall, hardware, and other general repairs. Property Upkeep
  • Prepare apartments and single-family homes between residents.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and help maintain the overall condition of our properties.
  • Keep company tools, parts, materials, and vehicles organized. Diagnostics & Communication
  • Help diagnose plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other issues so work outside our scope can be accurately dispatched to the appropriate skilled trade or vendor.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, vendors, and the Lakeside team. Schedule & Service Area
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
  • Start location: company shop in Grandville, MI
  • Service area: Lakeside-managed properties throughout West Michigan
  • On-call rotation: three weeks on-call followed by one week off, for after-hours issues needing more immediate attention (call volume is low, averaging about 1-2 calls per month) What We're Looking For
  • Hands-on experience in general maintenance, handyman, construction, remodeling, or similar work.
  • Comfortable with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance, and carpentry repairs, with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple work orders, and use mobile work-order software.
  • Professional and respectful in residents' homes.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation to our Grandville shop. Physical Requirements This is a hands-on position. You must be able to lift and carry 50+ lbs, climb ladders and stairs, work in basements, attics, crawl spaces, and other tight areas, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
