Janitor/Maintenance Associate (Technician)Part-time (Approx. 20 hours/week)
Rate of Pay:
$15 - $17 per hour
Position Summary:
Are you eager to shape your community's experience with the Barry Community Foundation (BCF) and Barry Community Enrichment Center (BCEC), leaving a positive mark from start to finish? We are searching for an individual who takes pride in themselves and what they do to become a member of our team. As a Maintenance Associate at BCF and BCEC, your role is vital in ensuring every visitor and tenant encounters an immaculately maintained building, inside and out! What You'll Do:
  • Properly, thoroughly, and completely clean and sanitize all conference rooms, common areas (including microwaves, sinks, counters, walls, etc.), restrooms (sinks, counters, mirrors, floors, toilets, etc.), doors, windows, handrails, etc. including all "high traffic" touchpoints.
  • Empty and replace bags in all trash receptacles and properly dispose of trash.
  • Ensure safe operation of all necessary and authorized equipment according to Foundationpolicies, procedures, MIOSHA, and safety guidelines.
  • Set up for building events (tables, chairs, etc.).
  • Complete any assigned outdoor maintenance and cleaning assignments.
  • Clean and sanitize all floors (including corners, baseboards, etc.).
  • Clean and dust displays, tables, etc., as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize all areas.
  • Complete general building repairs and maintenance tasks (lightbulb changes, hanging signs, paint repairs, etc.).
  • Alert upper management to any issues of sanitation that pertain to safety, cleanliness, equipment, maintenance, etc.
  • Ensure a favorable image to tenants & visitors by helping us maintain a clean, organized, attractive, and sanitary environment.
  • Assist in training other employees when necessary.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  • Previous janitorial experience preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and observe Foundation grooming and dress standards.
  • Must be able to work early mornings and nights, with occasional weekends.
  • Ability to solve practical problems as they relate to janitorial and maintenance situations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for four or more hours.
  • Must be able to sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • The ability to regularly bend, lift, and move up to 25 pounds, frequently bend, lift, and move 50 pounds, and occasionally bend, lift, and move 75 pounds (with assistance) is essential to the work.
