Job Description

Overview We are seeking an experienced Commercial Maintenance Technician to support the daily operations and maintenance of a large retail shopping center. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, self-motivated maintenance professional with strong experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general commercial building maintenance. This position requires someone who can identify problems, troubleshoot building systems, complete repairs within their capabilities, and recognize when specialized outside contractors are required. This is not a desk position. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the property, actively identifies maintenance needs, and works to keep the building and grounds operating safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative and corrective maintenance throughout the shopping center. Troubleshoot and perform repairs on HVAC systems and related equipment. Troubleshoot basic to intermediate electrical issues, including lighting, fixtures, outlets, breakers, and related building systems. Perform plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, leaks, valves, and other plumbing components. Complete general building repairs including doors, locks, ceiling tiles, drywall, painting, and minor carpentry. Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, rooftops, common areas, exterior areas, and building equipment. Identify equipment failures and maintenance concerns before they become larger problems. Perform preventative maintenance and maintain appropriate service records. Assist with roof, drainage, parking lot, exterior lighting, and grounds-related maintenance. Respond promptly to tenant and property maintenance requests. Assist with vendor and contractor access when specialized repairs are required. Maintain tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and inventory in an organized condition. Support snow and ice response and other weather-related property needs as required. Follow OSHA requirements and established property safety procedures. Participate in occasional after-hours or emergency response when necessary. Skills 3+ years of commercial building maintenance or facilities maintenance experience preferred. HVAC experience required; commercial HVAC experience strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems. Experience troubleshooting mechanical and building equipment. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment. Ability to read equipment manuals and follow preventative maintenance procedures. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance needs. Shopping center, retail, commercial real estate, industrial, hospital, school, or large-facility maintenance experience is a plus.
HVAC/EPA
certification or other applicable trade certifications are strongly preferred. Valid driver's license required. Physical Requirements Ability to regularly walk a large commercial property. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to climb ladders and access mechanical and rooftop areas. Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and work on your feet for extended periods. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to assist with occasional evenings, weekends, emergencies, and severe weather response as needed.

$18.00 per hour
