Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Overhead Door Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of overhead doors, including garage doors, industrial doors, and related hardware. Your expertise will ensure that all door systems operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently across commercial and residential settings. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize your technical skills, and contribute to the safety and functionality of our clients' facilities. A strong background in construction, mechanical systems, and hands-on fabrication is essential for success in this role. Duties Install overhead doors, including hanging door panels, attaching hardware, and ensuring proper alignment using hand tools and power tools. Perform repairs on malfunctioning doors by replacing broken springs, rollers, cables, or damaged panels with precision. Conduct routine maintenance such as lubrication, adjustments, and inspections to prolong the lifespan of door systems. Read blueprints and schematics to accurately assemble and install custom door systems according to specifications. Use welding techniques for fabricating or repairing metal components of door assemblies when necessary. Handle heavy lifting tasks safely while installing large door sections or hardware components on construction sites or client locations. Complete detailed documentation of work performed, including inspection reports and service logs. Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving metal stud framing, electrical wiring for automated doors, or fixture installation. Utilize construction site experience to ensure all installations meet safety standards and building codes. Assist with remodeling or renovation projects that require trim carpentry, caulking, or cabinet installation related to door systems. Experience Proven experience in overhead door installation and repair within a construction or remodeling environment. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems related to garage doors and industrial door mechanisms. Skilled in using hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, as well as power tools like drills and saws. Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings for precise installation work. Background in fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking is highly desirable. Familiarity with electrical systems associated with automated doors is a plus but not required. Prior hands-on experience with carpentry—including frame carpentry and trim work—is beneficial. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working at heights or on elevated platforms. Construction site experience demonstrating adherence to safety protocols and building standards is essential.
