Facility Maintenance Engineer Job Description The Facility Maintenance Engineer supports the smooth operation and upkeep of an industrial facility by performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and cleaning tasks. You will assist with repairs, installations, troubleshooting, and general facility upkeep in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that the building, equipment, and common areas remain safe, clean, and functional. This role combines hands-on mechanical work, basic building maintenance, and routine inspections to keep the facility running efficiently. Responsibilities Assist with repairs, installations, troubleshooting, and general facility upkeep in a fast-paced industrial environment. Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shop, including restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas. Perform basic building and office repairs, including light fixture replacement and furniture assembly. Support carpentry and painting projects using appropriate hand and power tools. Conduct routine inspections and cleaning of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Assist with installation projects such as lighting systems, rack systems, and other facility fixtures. Complete basic maintenance documentation accurately and on time to track work performed. Support preventative maintenance tasks by following established schedules and procedures. Track parts, materials, and tools needed for ongoing work and communicate needs in a timely manner. Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Use hand and power tools safely and correctly for maintenance, repair, and installation work. Lift, move, and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Work at heights, stand for extended periods, bend, and perform other physical activities required for facility maintenance. Work in varying environmental conditions while maintaining safety and quality standards. Support basic electrical and plumbing repairs under appropriate guidance as part of general building maintenance. Perform janitorial tasks as needed to support overall facility cleanliness and organization. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience in facility or building maintenance, including cleaning, painting, outdoor work, furniture installation and assembly, and minor electrical and plumbing repairs. Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently. Working knowledge of basic math and measurements for maintenance and installation tasks. Experience with facility maintenance tasks such as painting, cleaning, and general building upkeep. Ability to safely use hand and power tools for repairs, installations, and maintenance activities. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent physical activities such as standing, bending, and working at heights. Comfort working in varying environmental conditions within an industrial facility. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with basic electrical work, such as light fixture replacement and minor repairs. Exposure to plumbing tasks, including minor repairs and maintenance. Familiarity with HVAC-related maintenance or support tasks. Experience in janitorial work or industrial cleaning. Experience supporting installation projects such as lighting systems, rack systems, or similar infrastructure. Ability to complete basic maintenance documentation and keep accurate records of work performed. Strong organizational skills to track tools, parts, and materials needed for ongoing tasks. You will use a variety of hand and power tools while working in varying environmental conditions, and you will help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
