Job Description

Maintenance Technician - MTS Master Trade Services, Inc. (MTS) was established in 1981 for the purpose of providing trade support to the property management industry. Today, MTS provides a wide range of repair, disaster restoration, and construction service coverage throughout Minnesota, with a concentration in Central and Southern, MN.
What We're Looking For:
Master Trade Services is seeking a reliable, skilled On-Call Maintenance Technician to handle apartment maintenance requests for our property management customers. This is a part-time, on-call position ideal for an experienced tradesperson looking to supplement their income with flexible work. You'll be the go-to problem solver when our customers' tenants need help, responding to maintenance issues across multiple apartment communities. Job Responsibilities:
(Including but not limited to) Carry the on-call phone during assigned periods and respond promptly to maintenance requests Triage incoming calls to determine the appropriate response Travel to apartment properties to diagnose and repair maintenance issues Perform general maintenance and repairs including plumbing, electrical, appliances, drywall, painting, and general handyman work Coordinate with outside vendors and specialty contractors when a job is beyond scope Communicate clearly with property managers and document work performed Respond to after-hours and emergency calls as needed Who We Are Looking For (Ideal Candidate): Proven experience in apartment, residential, or commercial maintenance Working knowledge across multiple trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics, carpentry, appliance repair) Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (work vehicle/van required for on-site response) Own basic hand and power tools Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently Professional, courteous communication with tenants, property managers, and vendors Must be reachable and able to respond during assigned on-call periods Preferred Trade certifications or licenses Familiarity with the Sauk Rapids / St. Cloud area Previous on-call or emergency maintenance experience
Compensation:
On-Call Standby Pay:
$40 per day to carry the on-call phone
Active Work Rate:
$45 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 1.5 hours per response
Additional Weekday Hours:
Available at a reduced hourly rate for technicians who want to pick up more work during regular business hours How pay works: Answering and triaging phone calls is part of carrying the phone and is covered by your daily standby pay. You earn your $45/hour active work rate when a call requires action beyond the phone — when you get in your van to respond on-site, or when you must spend additional time calling and coordinating outside services (vendors, specialty contractors, etc.) to resolve an issue. Each qualifying response is paid at a minimum of 1.5 hours. Why Master Trade Services?
