Position Summary:
As a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), you will perform routine and specialized diagnostic testing on blood, body fluids, and other biological specimens to deliver timely and precise patient data. You will operate under strict quality control standards and regulatory guidelines, maintain complex laboratory equipment, and collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary clinical team to support exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Testing :
Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently; ensure timely reporting and precise documentation.
Quality Assurance :
Adhere strictly to quality control (QC) protocols, evaluate QC data, troubleshoot out-of-range results, and resolve technical issues promptly.
Equipment Maintenance :
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized laboratory instrumentation; conduct preventative maintenance and escalate issues as necessary.
Specimen Handling :
Collect, process, and document chain-of-custody urine drug screens; assist with phlebotomy duties as required.
Safety & Compliance :
Follow all infection control, safety regulations, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
Systems & Records :
Utilize laboratory computer systems effectively; manage, track, and record data in full compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education (Must meet one of the following): Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technology OR Completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50-week minimum) holding the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Experience :
0-2 years of acute care laboratory experience required.
Licenses & Certifications:
MLT Certification :
Medical Lab Technician certification through ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW, or an equivalent national certification agency required.
State Licensure :
State license required where applicable.
Core Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of laboratory testing principles, quality control measures, and infection control procedures. Proficiency in instrument operation, standard maintenance, and technical troubleshooting. Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and efficient analytical capabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
